Py-Scitools on Peregrine
Python has a great variety of auxiliary modules that can expose advanced numerical and analytic functionality. These are mostly accessed on Peregrine through the py-scitools module. There are two toolchains supported, the commercial Intel chain (Intel compilers and MPI) and the Linux default toolchain (GCC compilers and OpenMPI). These may be accessed via
module load py-scitools/2.7.4/impi-intel
module load py-scitools/2.7.4/openmpi-epel
respectively. Each can contain different Python packages, and others may be added on request. At the moment, numpy, scipy, mpi4py, and the nose unit testing framework are available to both toolchains. The GCC/OpenMPI toolchain also offers matplotlib and pandas, among others.
