Here are some things you may want to know about your token:
- The tokens are time-based. An OTP token number must be used within 30 seconds.
My session timed-out before I could scan the QR code. What can I do?
If your session times out and you have not set up your token, you'll need to obtain a new PIN from the HPC Operations Group. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and include your contact info for assistance.
My token doesn't seem to work? what can I do?
Some combinations of device and token management software have been reported to experience "time drift." If, after working with the HPC Operations Group, we suspect there might be a time drift issue, we may ask you to try a different token management application. This will require HPC Operations to send you a new registration PIN.
I use a Windows phone. What can I use?
Although the HPC Operations Group does not support Windows phone, there are applications on the Windows Store you can try, such as the Authenticator+ app. The HPC Operations Group will only provide support for FreeOTP and does not support Windows phone.
I don't have a smart phone. What can I do?
For users who do not have the resources to set up a soft token, HPC Operations can, upon request, provide a hard token. This can take up to two weeks for processing and delivery and a small fee will be charged back to your project. We -highly- recommend remote users use an Android or IOS device.
